We all like to make our lives easier. When it comes to business it is best to be as efficient as possible. In the case of websites I have learned a hard lesson. Having your domain name and web hosting at the same company can save you a lot of headache. Allow me to explain why.
We Only Need it When it Does Not WorkMany times we do not realize how badly we need something until it is too late. When it comes to fixing a broken website that is down and no one can reach, you need it done fast. This is how I learned how to best setup a website for the future. What I learned was having web hosting at one company and a domain name at another could be a problem when the site needed work. Essentially they will, or I should say may, point fingers at each other.
When it is time to figure out the problem it seems to be human nature to immediately blame someone else. You may be like me, meaning I have no idea how to figure out if the issue is with the domain registrar or the hosting company. I have had them blame each other leaving me to try and figure it out. It is no fun when your website is not working and you are left on multiple help desk calls attempting to figure out the issue.
Combine for SimplicityTherefore my advice is that you register your domain and have the same company deal with your hosting business.
