You may not know this but a lot of content online is free for you to use. Now you should never use anything unless you either first ask for see that the person has put up terms on their site. A lot of people put terms merely asking for you to point back to their site so that they get the link back. In most cases though if it is a writing most people don't want your copy at all.
They're fine if you paraphrase what they've said or maybe quote them on something but they always definitely want to link back and they particularly don't want you to copy everything that they have. Even if you say where you got it you probably shouldn't still copy the entire thing without the permission. Is very important to make sure you don't grab something and throw it on your site that isn't yours, whether it's a writing or an image.
It is all too easy these days for someone to just use a GoDaddy promo code and obtain a domain name and create a website in merely copy and paste text and images and basically things that other people own. Realize that people like Google are claiming they are just a way for you to find information but they are directly copying it. So you may see that Google has a lot of images but those images are still owned by other people. So be sure that when you find something, particularly in a search engine, that you take the time to find out exactly who would trace it back to the person that created in the first place before you go off and make a copy.
